7. finish Fattie’s Fish Fish, you know, because the baby’s already here Done!
Finally! Something off my MP08 list.

The pattern is One Fish, Two Fish from Blue Sky Alpacas using their Dyed Cotton. I actually knit both the large and small fish and combined, they took two hanks of #602 Honeydew and one of #623 Toffee. There is an errata out for the pattern, so be sure to take a look at the website if you’re thinking of some fishy goodness for yourself.
As you can see from the photos, the larger fish is a bit…large. (Small child included for scale). The boy and his fish are hanging out on a blanket the brother-in-law has been carrying around for a long time. The observant among you will see that it is, in fact, an E.T. blanket.

For my next trick, another item off the MP08 list before the week is out. Can she do it?! Ooh…the suspense.
I’m happy to report that some progress has been made on my Mission Possible list. Half of line item #3 has been reconciled. Shortly after completing and posting the list, I sat on the couch to work on the Shimmer socks. Did I mention that I was still on the first sock? While the pattern worked so well in breaking up the Lorna’s Laces Girly Stripe I was using and it did, in deed, Shimmer, I couldn’t go on. I’d made the foot too long to fit my sister, but I kept going because it still fit me. I’d forgotten to switch to the leg pattern from the foot pattern and had a line of plain stitches running up the leg to mark the beginning of the round.
Sitting on the couch, I stared at the sock. I pulled the dpn’s out and attempted to pull the partially finished sock onto my foot. The sock would not go on over my heel. I snarled and pulled harder, eventually getting the sock on. A moment later, I realized the circulation was being cut off in my leg. The pattern doesn’t lend itself to a very stretchy fabric. In a fit of rage, I peeled the sock off my foot and cast about for the ball winder. I knew exactly what that uppity sock needed.
With the lightness of spirit that can only come from showing your knitting who’s boss, I decided to continue being productive. I rooted around for the One Fish, Two Fish pattern from Blue Sky Alpacas, located the Dyed Cotton I’d purchased months ago for the project and cast on. Progress continues to be good on Fish Fish and I even took a photo (yes, I’ve had this post in draft mode since the date on my desk calendar in the photo. Shut up, you!).

I finished knitting the main portion of Fish Fish while watching the Super Bowl and the fins while waiting on my car at the VW dealership. Now I just have to do the finishing bits and we’ll have a complete Fish Fish of Doom.
I inadvertently dealt a death blow to line items 6 & 8 by completely losing them. “Completely” as in I’ve resigned myself to purchase needles to replace the ones stuck in the projects. I have no idea what happened to them. All I know is that they were in the same bag and that bag has gone AWOL. Turning the house inside out yielded plenty of interesting things, but no projects. This is not good. So I cast on for a new project with a 70/30 cashmere and silk number to numb the loss. Don’t judge me!
