After work last Wednesday, we headed north to visit his grandparents and spend time with the family. My parents headed out of town to enjoy some fishing and gambling in Biloxi and the little sister got guilted into joining her guy’s parents at a friend’s house.

Every time we head up to Cave Spring, I have visions in my head of a little farm with sheep, goats, alpaca and maybe a little donkey. We talk of building a house on the family property. His paternal grandfather owns 100 acres of wilderness in the North Georgia Mountains. It will be divided between his father and his uncle and eventually between my husband and his brother. There’s a thought of purchasing his uncle’s share as no one believes he’d leave the city to settle in the mountains.

His maternal grandmother also has a good chunk of property in the same little town, but there are far more family members on that side. Here’s the view from her back yard.

There’s a goat in that shed, but he refused to come closer and the husband refused to let me wander behind the fenced area to see him as he isn’t a little goat. The trip back home wasn’t too shabby in the scenery department either.

I did a little bit of knitting on a Pinwheel Blanket. Is it me or has there been a pile of people doing the baby thing lately?

When I got home Thursday, I did some knitting and actually finished some projects. Here’s a pair of Fetching from Knitty that I actually finished a while ago. The recipient has a mostly unheated garage for studio space and it gets chilly during the winter. Now the question is: Do I give them to her now since she knows I’m knitting them or make her wait for Christmas because I can? I should prolly also take pictures during the day.

I was so diligent about finishing up projects that I pulled out the spinning wheel to give myself something to do. I spun up a merino and silk blend I purchased ages ago from Copper Moose. Between learning my way around a drop spindle and giving bits of it away, I ended up with 150yds of 2-ply sport weight-ish yarn from 3oz of fiber. Of course I don’t have a photo.

Instead, I’ll give you the very random merino/angora mix Rebecca had for no good reason. There’s 2oz total. My plan is to spin it up to a laceweight single and leave it at that. It could stand to be carded as I’m finding bits of VM and whatnot, but we’ll just say it’s adding to the “character” of the yarn.
